This extraordinary table lamp by André Freymond was created in the 1960s and is a characteristic example of the combination of sculptural design and functional light art that distinguishes the Swiss artist. Each piece was personally designed by Freymond and elaborately handcrafted, giving the lamp the character of a unique piece.
The ceramic base impresses with its sculptural presence and bright red-orange glaze, whose depth and shine change in the light. This colour-intensive surface is typical of Freymond's work: dynamic, expressive and at the same time harmonious in composition. The glaze reveals subtle transitions and finely modulated layers of colour, giving the piece an almost painterly effect.
Above it rises a lampshade made of fine, natural-coloured silk, which contrasts gently with the powerful base. The warm, diffuse light of the shade emphasises the vibrancy of the glaze and creates an atmospheric, elegant lighting effect that appears both cosy and sculptural.
The work is hand-signed and numbered, confirming its authenticity and documenting its artisanal origins. The lamp has been professionally rewired and is therefore technically up to date without losing its original character. It is in very good vintage condition with minimal age-appropriate marks that underline the authenticity of the piece.
