Paris meets Basel
An apartment as a stage for design history
In the middle of downtown Basel, a design -savvy collector - born in Paris - has staged his personal world with our support. In his adopted home, he connects French elegance with Swiss clarity and thus creates an unmistakable atmosphere.
At the center of the staging is an exquisite collection of furniture Dieter Wäckerlin. Their uncompromising reduction and the precisely balanced proportions act such as architectural settings that give the rooms structure and attitude.
But the stage does not belong to Wäckerlin: furniture and objects from different eras-from Art Deco to the Italian Radical Design of the 1970s-occur in dialogue, contrast and complement each other.
The materiality speaks particularly strongly: dark wood and cool stone floors, heavy velvet curtains that filter the light and give the rooms an almost theatrical tension. Mirrors and lights from different decades set targeted accents and always open up new perspectives.

Rooms with structure and attitude
The fact that this composition remains vibrant and does not become frozen in a museum-like state is thanks to the fine curatorial sensibility of Okay Art. Together with the resident, they succeeded in translating a collection into spaces – not as a static arrangement, but as an organic whole.
Manifesto for the Design
This is how an apartment has emerged that is the same retreat as manifest of a life for the design: a room in which Basel and Paris, tradition and avant -garde, furniture and architecture step into an inspiring conversation.
