Rare woven bag from Mindanao dating from the 1930s, handcrafted in the Philippines from finely worked bamboo and cloth.
The bag is distinguished by its exceptionally precise woven craftsmanship and its clear, almost architectural form. Particularly remarkable is its outstanding state of preservation — a rare surviving example of pre-war Philippine craftsmanship that has been extraordinarily well maintained over the decades.
The combination of natural bamboo material and textile elements gives the piece a warm, organic presence while also making it a highly decorative collectible with both ethnographic and aesthetic significance.
This example originates from the collection of a Swiss art collector, adding a special provenance and further character to the object.
An authentic and exceptionally rare piece with remarkable patina, craftsmanship, and timeless sculptural beauty.
