This elegant tray was designed by French designer Mathieu Matégot and manufactured in France around the 1950s. It was created using Matégot's patented Rigitulle technique, in which perforated sheet metal is folded and molded into shape. This characteristic workmanship gives the tray its unique lightness and a distinctive, sculptural aesthetic. Mathieu Matégot is one of the defining figures of post-war French design. Known for his innovative use of metal and industrial materials, his work is exemplary of the modern design of everyday objects from this era. The tray has been professionally repainted in its original color and is in excellent condition.
