Abstracta Vicke Lindstrand, Kosta, 60s

The “Abstracta” vase, model LU 2008, was made in the Swedish glassworks Costa based on a design by the renowned glass designer Vicke Lindstrand manufactured. It is one of the striking examples of Scandinavian art glass from the mid-20th century and exemplifies Lindstrand's abstract, sculptural formal language.

This version is made of solid, hand-crafted glass and is characterized by incorporated white, black and green lines that run excitingly through the glass body. The colored inclusions are not decorative, but are an integral part of the glass and give the vase depth, movement and a strong visual presence. Each vase is therefore unique with individual lines.

The shape is deliberately abstract, with organic contours and a powerful, almost architectural effect. The translucency and play of colors change depending on the viewing angle and incidence of light, making the vase impressive both as a functional object and as an independent glass sculpture.

Due to its artistic design, high-quality craftsmanship and authorship, the “Abstracta” vase is considered a sought-after collector's item of Swedish glass design and is particularly suitable as a solitaire for design-oriented interiors.
