Very nice pair of bar stools / Bar Stool 64 by Alvar Aalto for Artek, dated to the 1940s. This is the early version with the flat ring footrest (foot ring) - a sought-after detail from the older production.
The stools are made of birch plywood and then painted black and are based on Aalto's iconic construction with curved wooden legs (Aalto's "L-Leg" principle), which makes the design a design classic to this day. The wood shows slight signs of wear commensurate with age. The seats have been professionally reupholstered with buffalo leather, which gives the stools a high-quality, warm appearance and at the same time makes them robust for everyday use.
