French Bauhaus Umbrella Stand, 20s

Elegant and functionally designed umbrella stand from France, created in the 20s and clearly aligned with the formal language of the Bauhaus and early Modernism. The piece impresses with its reduced, geometric design, deliberately avoiding ornamental elements and instead emphasizing function and materiality. Its clear lines and balanced proportions give the umbrella stand a timeless, architectural presence. The restrained design follows the ideals of early Modernism, in which utility objects and aesthetic standards form a unified whole. Through its understated elegance, the piece integrates seamlessly into both classic and contemporary interiors, functioning equally as a practical everyday object and as a decorative design piece. French designs of this type from the 20s are rare and document the early engagement with Bauhaus principles outside Germany. The present umbrella stand is a characteristic example of this design movement and holds both historical and decorative significance. In good vintage condition.
