Modular shelving unit “DW Wall Furniture Series II” by Dieter Waeckerlin for Idealheim, Basel, 1966. This rare version is made of rosewood and black-stained ash and combines a bench with storage space. Waeckerlin’s furniture is characterized by its simple, sophisticated, and functional design. A large part of his body of work was created through the family-owned company Idealheim in Basel. The furniture, mostly modular in design, was custom-made to meet individual customer specifications. Although Waeckerlin’s work was little known for a long time, it has been rediscovered in recent years and honored in the monograph *Dieter Waeckerlin and Idealheim: Swiss Interior Design 1950–1980.
