Eero Saarinen Chair, Model 72, Knoll Int., 50s

Iconic armchair designed by Eero Saarinen for Knoll International in the 50s, model 72. The design is considered an outstanding example of the Mid-Century Modern movement and is distinguished by its sculptural elegance, organic lines, and the balanced integration of form and comfort. The chair follows Saarinen’s characteristic approach of a flowing, almost continuous formal language, in which structural elements merge into a unified and harmonious whole. The gently curved silhouette and carefully proportioned volumes create a sense of visual lightness while maintaining a strong presence within the space. The high-quality production by Knoll International reflects the company’s reputation for excellence and precision during the post-war modernist era. Model 72 represents an important expression of Saarinen’s design vision, which aimed to eliminate visual fragmentation in furniture and instead create organic, architecturally inspired forms. Today, the design is regarded as a sought-after 20th-century design classic and is highly valued by collectors as well as interior designers. In good vintage condition.
