The Tulip Chair Model 151 by Eero Saarinen is considered one of the most influential furniture designs of the 20th century. Designed in 1956 for Knoll International, the chair was created as part of Saarinen’s celebrated Pedestal Collection, through which he sought to fundamentally rethink the traditional construction of tables and chairs. His stated aim was to eliminate what he referred to as the “slum of legs” commonly found beneath dining tables. The result is an unmistakable design featuring an organically shaped seat shell and the characteristic single pedestal base that has become the chair’s defining feature. The swivel version of Model 151 combines sculptural elegance with exceptional comfort and everyday functionality. Its harmonious lines and refined, minimalist form make the Tulip Chair a timeless classic that complements both contemporary and period interiors. In good vintage condition.
