“Construction” by Heinrich Niemeyer is a rare silkscreen print based on a 1927 design, produced in 1979 by the renowned Edition Partanen in Schluchsee in a limited edition of 100 copies. The large-format work (60 × 60 cm) is hand-signed and numbered by the artist and exemplifies the precise formal language of Constructivism.
With its clear geometric composition and the dynamic interplay of bold color fields in red, yellow, and blue with neutral shades of gray and white, the work embodies the ideals of the Constructivist movement of the 1920s. The balanced composition lends the work a lively dynamism and, at the same time, a timeless clarity that has lost none of its relevance to this day.
Heinrich Niemeyer, a German-Dutch Constructivist and husband of Rosel Niemeyer-Catrein, shaped a significant artistic dynasty as the father of the Concrete Artist Jo Niemeyer. His works bear witness to the consistent pursuit of harmony, order, and visual precision that characterize Constructivism.
This silkscreen print is in excellent archival condition. It comes from the Partanen Edition and later found its way into a renowned private collection in Basel. In the year of its release, the work was presented at Art Basel and impressively demonstrates the enduring relevance of constructivist design principles.
A rare collector’s item of museum quality and a striking focal point for both modern and classic interiors.
