Kazak Kars rug, Turkey, circa 1910. Hand-knotted from virgin wool using traditional plant-based dyes. Features typical Caucasian geometric patterns in bold, high-contrast colors. The composition displays the characteristic clarity and symbolism of early Kazak rugs from the Kars region. The rug has a beautiful, even patina of age and is in good condition for its age. Kars rugs from this early period are considered particularly sought-after examples of Caucasian rug-knotting artistry and combine high-quality craftsmanship with a strong decorative impact.
