This handmade ceramic plate by Ninon Vester Müller is an expressive example of Swiss studio ceramics from the 1980s. The front features a stylized blue fish in a bold glaze, surrounded by turquoise glaze, like a fish in the sea. On the back is a small bird and the artist's characteristic signature with the year 1986.
The sculptural painting style and lively glaze design are typical of Vester Müller's work, which always mediates between art object and functional form. Each plate is unique—modeled, glazed, and fired by hand—and bears the artist's unmistakable signature.
