This distinctive ceramic object by Søholm Stentøj was created in Denmark in the 60s and embodies the expressive design language of Scandinavian mid-century ceramics in a special way. Based on the Danish island of Bornholm, Søholm was known for its high-quality stoneware, experimental glazes, and striking relief decorations. In the 1960s, the Danish ceramicist Einar Johansen in particular shaped the manufactory's aesthetic with his designs. Characteristic of his work are bold glazes, often executed in various shades of blue, textured surfaces, and geometric reliefs that give the vessels and lamp bases an almost sculptural effect. The combination of traditional ceramic craftsmanship, vibrant glazes, and modern design makes these pieces characteristic examples of Danish Modern from the 1960s.
